Summer School Event – Department of Economics, University of Manitoba

As part of the 2025 Summer School organized by the graduate students of the Department of Economics, a special Winnipeg General Strike Tour was held on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, offering a rich historical immersion into one of Canada's most important labour movements. The tour was attended by 20 graduate students from various Canadian and U.S. universities, along with several faculty members who enthusiastically joined the event. The entire group traveled together by chartered bus, enhancing the collective learning and engagement throughout the day.

The tour was designed to trace the key historical sites associated with the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike, one of the largest and most influential strikes in Canadian history, which saw over 30,000 workers walk off the job in a powerful demonstration of labour solidarity.
